Product details
1. Structure & Operating Principle
-
Interface Conformity: Slurry pump casings and liners are heavy, rigid cast parts that often have micro-imperfections on their machined faces. The seal gasket is a compressible, elastomeric ring placed precisely between these rigid components.
-
Compression Sealing: When the casing bolts are torqued to specification, the gasket deforms and flows into the microscopic gaps of the metal or rubber mating surfaces.
-
Pressure Containment: This creates a completely gas- and liquid-tight seal capable of withstanding both the high positive hydraulic pressures generated by the impeller and the negative pressures experienced during suction lifts.
2. Common Specifications
-
Profile Designs: Available as flat die-cut gaskets, molded O-rings, or specialized profile gaskets tailored to fit the heavy-duty grooves of specific slurry pump models.
-
Thickness: Precision-manufactured to specific thicknesses to ensure proper face-to-face alignment of internal pump liners without altering critical internal hydraulic clearances.
3. Materials
Gaskets must withstand chemical attack, high pressures, and mechanical shifting. Common materials include:
-
Nitrile Rubber (NBR / Buna-N): The standard choice for excellent oil, water, and mild chemical resistance in general mining applications.
-
Natural Rubber: Offers superior elasticity and recovery properties, ideal for purely abrasive slurry environments.
-
Fluoroelastomer (Viton / FKM): Reserved for high-temperature applications or slurries containing aggressive chemicals, acids, or organic solvents.
-
Compressed Non-Asbestos Fiber (CNAF): Used on high-pressure flange connections where high tensile strength and blowout resistance are required.
4. Key Applications
-
Casing Joint Sealing: Placed between the pump volute/casing halves to prevent external leakage.
-
Liner Interfaces: Seals the connection points between the throatbush, frame plate liner insert, and volute liner.
-
Suction & Discharge Flanges: Ensures leak-free connections between the pump and the facility’s piping network.
